Hey news enthusiasts! A CGTN global poll surveyed 12,000 people across 40 countries and regions, revealing that 66.7% recognize the return of Taiwan to China as a direct outcome of the Chinese mainland’s victory in World War II 🌏📊.
At a press conference on Wednesday, Chen Binhua, spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, noted that the poll underscores how history can’t be forgotten or tampered with. He highlighted that documents like the Cairo Declaration and the Potsdam Proclamation laid the international legal groundwork for Taiwan’s restoration to China.
Chen also emphasized that while reunification across the Taiwan Strait hasn’t happened yet, the principle that the Chinese mainland and Taiwan belong to one China remains unchanged. He voiced concerns over provocative moves by Taiwan region’s Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities, calling them attempts to alter the status quo, deny China’s sovereignty, and challenge the post-war order.
He added that the international community should support the Chinese people’s cause in opposing Taiwan independence separatist activities and striving for national reunification 🤝.
