China’s Vice Premier Urges Cutting Service Trade Barriers

At the 2025 China International Fair for Trade in Services in Beijing, Ding Xuexiang, vice premier of the State Council, laid out a bold three-point plan to tear down barriers in service trade and supercharge the global economy 🌍✨.

Facing a world where unilateral moves and protectionism are on the rise, Ding stressed China’s commitment to high-standard opening-up in services. He pointed out how smooth service trade can drive growth at home and spark fresh opportunities everywhere.

His roadmap for global cooperation includes:

  • High-level openness: Align regulations, cut red tape, and build a friendlier environment for service sectors.
  • Innovation push: Embrace digital, networked, and intelligent trends, and team up on AI and big data to raise service trade quality.
  • Mutual benefit FTAs: Sign more top-tier free trade agreements, using service trade as a launchpad for shared prosperity.

The summit, co-hosted by the Beijing Municipal Government, the Ministry of Commerce, and UNCTAD, featured insights from Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Peruvian President Dina Boluarte, WTO Deputy Director-General Johanna Hill, and UNCTAD Deputy Secretary-General Pedro Manuel Moreno 🎤.

After the event, Ding toured the service trade fair halls, reinforcing the pledge to boost high-quality service imports and exports, and open new doors for businesses worldwide.

With about 800 officials and representatives gathering under one roof, the summit highlighted a collective drive for innovation, deeper cooperation, and a truly global service economy 💼🚀.
