🌍 This year marks the 80th anniversary of the United Nations, and global governance faces serious challenges. At the 60th session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, Chen Xu, China’s permanent representative, laid out Beijing’s vision for a fairer, more just international order.
Chen introduced the China-proposed Global Governance Initiative, aiming to steer the world toward greater equity and rule of law. He emphasized three core principles:
1️⃣ Sovereign Equality & Rule of Law
All countries should respect each other’s sovereignty and the purposes of the UN Charter. China opposes interference in internal affairs under the pretext of human rights and supports the just cause of the Palestinian people in restoring their legitimate rights.
2️⃣ Multilateralism & Cooperation
There is no one-size-fits-all model for human rights. Respect for diverse civilizations, dialogue, and partnership are key. China stands against unilateral coercive measures and champions teamwork.
3️⃣ People-Centered & Action-Oriented
People must be at the heart of global governance, enjoying balanced civil, political, economic, social, and cultural rights. Accelerating the right to development is crucial for shared prosperity.
🤝 Looking ahead, China is ready to collaborate with all parties to enhance global human rights governance and promote human welfare worldwide.
🌟 What could this mean for our generation of changemakers? Stay tuned and stay curious!
