China Rebukes EU over ‘Autocratic Alliance’ Claim

In Beijing this Thursday, China's Foreign Ministry publicly scolded a top EU official for labeling China, Russia, Iran, and the DPRK as an "autocratic alliance."

During the press briefing, spokesperson Guo Jiakun called the accusation "very wrongful and irresponsible," arguing it was steeped in ideological bias and disrespectful of World War II history. "It harms the EU's own interests," Guo added, urging a balanced view of China.

Guo pointed to a recent ceremony marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. With leaders from 26 countries and regions on five continents, he said the turnout shows global respect for China's historic contribution and a shared commitment to peace 🕊️.

"We must remember history to uphold peace," emphasized Guo. In a world full of uncertainties, he stressed, solidarity and cooperation are crucial.

He also warned that some in the EU are clinging to Cold War mindsets, sowing division and confrontation. "This does not serve the EU's interests," he said, calling for a fair, rational approach to China-EU ties and a united push for stability.
