Mainland Defends Taiwan Compatriots’ V-Day Trip to Beijing

🌟 Big news on cross-strait relations! Zhu Fenglian, spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, defended Taiwan compatriots traveling to the Chinese mainland for the Sept. 3 commemorations of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, calling their participation "above board and beyond reproach."

In a recent statement responding to reports that DPP authorities had threatened former Kuomintang officials for participating in activities organized by the Chinese mainland, Zhu reminded everyone of their shared history. "In defeating Japanese fascism, all Chinese people—including Taiwan compatriots—made great sacrifices and important contributions," she said.

By joining the ceremony, Zhu added, participants help remember history, honor fallen heroes, carry forward the great spirit of the War of Resistance and work together to promote peaceful development of cross-strait ties and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. ✌️

She criticized the DPP authorities for resorting to obstruction, intimidation and threats, saying such moves go against the will of compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait and harm public sentiment. "These actions fully expose the DPP's 'Taiwan independence' nature," Zhu said.

Zhu warned that those acting as accomplices of "Taiwan independence" will be held accountable under the law and that the Chinese mainland will resolutely crack down on such acts. 🔍⚖️
