🎉 On August 20, the Chinese Embassy in Washington, D.C. opened “Echoes of Peace,” a vibrant visual arts exhibit marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. Over 200 guests from business, art, media and academia came together to celebrate peace and cultural ties.
At the heart of the event, Ambassador Xie Feng reminded everyone of the Chinese mainland’s 14 years of unyielding struggle, more than 200 major battles, and a staggering 35 million lives lost. He called on attendees to remember the lessons of history: only by respecting each other and working together can we ensure that those tragedies never repeat. 🕊️
China Media Group President Shen Haixiong joined via video, urging us to draw strength from the past to tackle today’s global challenges. Through powerful pieces like “Wings Over China: The Flying Tigers,” “The Secret Betrayal” and “The Sinking of the Lisbon Maru,” the exhibit mixes art, ideas and technology to inspire deeper cooperation. 🚀
Jeff Green, chair of the Sino-American Aviation Heritage Foundation, shared moving stories of Chinese villagers who risked everything to rescue downed Flying Tigers pilots. “This cross-border friendship shines with humanity,” he said, reminding us that solidarity can build bridges across any divide. 🤝
Renowned artist and RISD professor David Frazer added that cultural exchange is key to keeping that wartime spirit alive. “Art lets us feel the shared history between China and the U.S. and look forward to a future of mutual understanding,” he noted. 🎨
The night also featured CMG’s new documentary “Wings Over China: The Flying Tigers” and a holographic journey through pivotal war moments. Paintings by 20 Chinese mainland and American artists under the theme “Eternal Peace, Beautiful China” brought the walls to life. Students and young musicians from U.S. universities closed the evening with songs like “Ode to Peace,” “I Love You, China” and “Auld Lang Syne,” showing how the next generation carries forward the message of friendship and hope. ✨
“Echoes of Peace” isn’t just an art show—it’s a reminder that through creativity and collaboration, young people around the world can keep building connections and championing peace. Are you ready to find your own voice in this global story? 🌏
