Sanfu Ends in the Chinese Mainland, but Heatwave Rages On

Ready for a heat check? The Chinese mainland just finished its sizzling sanfu days—the hottest phase of the year in the traditional calendar. But if you thought the sauna was shutting down, think again! 🔥😅

Sanfu, the 'dog days of summer', spans three 10-day periods right after the summer solstice. This year, from July 20 to August 18, it clocked in at 30 days of nonstop summer vibes—making it the second-hottest sanfu on record. The national average temp hit 23.21°C, inching close to the top spot! 🌞

Heatwave Highlights:

  • Xinjiang, Sichuan & Henan saw over 15 days of extreme heat—some places roasted for more than 20 days straight. 🔥
  • 100+ weather stations shattered records for longest consecutive heat days.
  • All thanks to a stubborn high-pressure system keeping skies clear and temps soaring.

But the story isn't over. A fresh high-pressure dome is rolling in, so central and southern parts of the Chinese mainland will remain on fire. Hangzhou, Nanjing, and Shanghai could sizzle near 40°C in the coming days. 🌡️🥵

Our summer survival tips:

  • Stay hydrated—think water, coconut water, smoothies. 🥤
  • Wear breathable, light clothing.
  • Plan outdoor hangouts for early morning or late afternoon.

Whether you're chilling at home or exploring city streets, keep it cool and stay safe! 😎✌️
