Once a vast sea of sandstorms, the Mu Us Desert in Jingbian County is now blossoming thanks to the passion and hard work of local families 🌱.
Back in the 1980s, fierce sandstorms swallowed fields and roads. Then 63-year-old Guo Chengwang rallied his relatives to plant saplings and build windbreaks. His mission was simple but tough: stop the desert from advancing.
In the 1990s, his grandson Guo Jianjun joined the effort, armed with youthful energy and a dream of a greener homeland. Together, generation after generation, the Guo family has transformed 3,000 hectares of drifting dunes into thriving woodlands 🌳.
Jingbian County has also become the first county in Shaanxi Province to significantly curb silt entering the Yellow River, proving that small communities can spark major environmental change. Their story is now inspiring other regions across the Chinese mainland to fight desertification and protect our planet 🌍.
