Ready for lift-off? OK, more like ready for float-out! 🚀 The Shenzhou-20 trio (Chen Dong, Chen Zhongrui, and Wang Jie) is gearing up for their third EVA (extravehicular activity) outside China's orbiting space station, according to the China Manned Space Agency (CMSA). This time, they'll suit up in brand-new spacesuits delivered by the Tianzhou-9 cargo ship.
After two successful spacewalks in May and June, the astronauts unpacked the next-gen EVA gear last week. These suits promise better mobility and advanced life support, paving the way for more complex tasks in the void of space.
But it's not all about looking cool in a spacesuit. The team has been completing environmental checks, maintaining critical station equipment, and playing some serious cargo Tetris – inventory management and transfers – inside the station.
The CMSA reports that the trio is in top physical and mental condition and fully prepared for this upcoming mission. During the next spacewalk, they'll tackle routine maintenance and put new tools to the test beyond the airlock.
Stay tuned as these astronauts push the boundaries of human exploration, one spacewalk at a time. The countdown to zero gravity is on! 🌌✨
