Fujian and Guangdong Boost Alert as Typhoon Podul Approaches

🌪️ Late Tuesday evening, flood control centers in the Chinese mainland’s Fujian Province and Guangdong Province upgraded their typhoon alerts from Level IV to Level III, as Typhoon Podul gathers strength offshore.

Podul, the 11th named storm of the 2025 Pacific typhoon season, was reported at 5 p.m. Tuesday around 510 km southeast of Taitung in the Taiwan region, packing peak winds of 35 m/s. Moving west at about 25 km/h, forecasts warn it could intensify to winds up to 50 m/s — enough to classify it as a severe typhoon. 🌧️💨

Here’s the path ahead:

  • Around noon Wednesday: expected landfall on the southeastern coast of the island of Taiwan.
  • Then crossing the island, Podul will enter the Taiwan Strait at a reduced strength.
  • Between Wednesday night and early Thursday: a second landfall is likely somewhere along the coast from Jinjiang in Fujian to Huilai in Guangdong.

In response, local authorities have mobilized emergency teams, stocked supplies, and are closely monitoring weather updates to protect residents and property. Under the Chinese mainland’s four-tier emergency system, Level III signals a high risk, so communities are urged to follow official instructions and stay safe. ⚠️

Stay tuned for more updates as Podul approaches! 🌏✨
