Wushu Dynamo Lu Zhuoling Secures China’s 1st Gold at Chengdu World Games

Let’s set the scene: it’s Friday night at the 2025 Chengdu World Games in Sichuan Province, and 21-year-old Wushu star Lu Zhuoling is ready to make history. With hearts racing and cameras flashing, Lu delivered a masterclass in Taijiquan and Taijijian that captured everyone’s attention — and clinched the first gold medal for China! 🥇

In the morning Taijiquan, Lu scored an impressive 9.796 points, topping the field. She then wrapped up the evening Taijijian with a solid third-place showing. When the judges combined the routines, her total of 19.522 points was unbeatable.

"This gold medal is the best birthday gift I could ask for," Lu said with a smile. (She’ll turn 22 on August 22 🎂). "Before going on stage, I was a bit nervous, but I performed just like in training. The crowd’s support gave me an extra boost!"

Singapore’s Zeanne Law took silver with 19.430 points, and Malaysia’s Chin Sy Xuan Sydney landed bronze at 19.410 points. The competition was fierce, but Lu’s precision and grace set her apart.

Looking ahead, Lu is pumped about Wushu’s future. "Whether in China or other countries, more and more young people are practicing Wushu," she said. "I believe Wushu will definitely make it to the Olympic stage one day."

For those new to the sport: Wushu, also called kung fu, is a showcase of Chinese martial arts that blends power, flexibility, and artistic flair. In Taijiquan and Taijijian, athletes perform a series of choreographed moves, and the highest combined score wins.

With Lu Zhuoling’s stunning performance, Wushu fans around the world are buzzing — and we can’t wait to see where this ancient art goes next. Could the Olympic rings be the next stage? Time will tell! 🌏✨
