Have you ever locked eyes with a snow leopard? ❄️🐆 In Xining, on the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau in the Chinese mainland, journalist Yang Xinmeng from CGTN met some of the highlands’ fiercest survivors: Pallas’s cats, sand cats and the majestic snow leopard – each wearing scars that whisper tales of endurance.
Take Ling Bufu, for example. After being caught under a yak’s weight, he became the first snow leopard in the Chinese mainland to receive a delicate nose surgery. Then there’s Ling Xiaozhe, rescued at just six months old and barely stronger than a feather. Today, he dashes across the plateau like a living lightning bolt.
But this place is more than a zoo. It’s a round-the-clock hospital and an orphanage for the wildest residents of the highlands. People like to say it’s 'poor but full of heart,' and that’s exactly why many of these animals have sneaked past the edge of extinction.
Watching them roam freely under the endless mountain sky, you can almost feel the wind as it glides over the grass, carrying with it a promise: every life deserves a second chance. 🍃❤️
