On Wednesday, the Chinese mainland sounded the alarm as Zhu Fenglian, spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, slammed Taiwan leader Lai Ching-te's recent call for 'Taiwan independence' at the Ketagalan Forum. She warned that history will judge those who betray the motherland. ⚠️
Calling Lai a 'saboteur of peace, peddler of war, and troublemaker,' Zhu accused him of enforcing a climate of 'green terror' on the island. She said he has pushed to decouple, blocked exchanges, and boosted military spending, dragging residents of Taiwan into risky waters and ignoring their welfare.
Zhu added that these moves clash with the mainstream public opinion on the island and have been broadly rejected. She blamed the DPP authorities and separatist forces for colluding with external powers to stoke cross-Straits tensions for an 'independence' agenda.
'Forgetting one's roots will lead to no good end,' Zhu warned, stressing that reunification of the motherland is an unstoppable historical trend that no force can block.
