From the first whistle, the hosts dominated. Lu Jiayu set the tone with a brace before the 30-minute mark, while Zheng Lu and Zhang Yiqian added two more goals to send the team into halftime with a four-goal cushion. The second half saw further finishes to seal an emphatic win.
“I was a bit nervous when I first stepped onto the pitch,” said forward Xiao Yafei. “But the home crowd really lifted me, and the team worked well together. I hope we maintain this form in the next match against Cambodia.”
Coach Colin Bell highlighted the youthful energy on display: “Many players were making their debuts, but they fought hard and delivered a solid result. We’ve started strong, but the job isn’t done.”
