Green Ammonia Fuels China’s Seafaring Vessel

In a breakthrough for cleaner shipping, a Chinese seafaring vessel successfully completed the world's first pure ammonia fuel bunkering operation. 🚢💡

The bunkering took place at a terminal operated by China COSCO Shipping Corp., Ltd. in Dalian City, northeast Liaoning Province on the Chinese mainland. The vessel features two full-pressure ammonia fuel tanks on either side of the main deck, ensuring stable power and boasting an impressive 91% maximum ammonia energy replacement ratio that significantly cuts traditional fossil fuel use.

This milestone operation used pure ammonia sourced from the world’s largest green hydrogen and ammonia project in Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia Region. The project utilizes an AI-driven new power system technology that connects directly to 100% green electricity, reinforcing its role in sustainable energy.

Ammonia, known for its high energy density and carbon-free combustion—producing only water and nitrogen—emerges as a promising fuel to decarbonize shipping. This innovative step not only drives progress in maritime energy but also inspires global efforts toward a greener future. 🌱⚓

For young news enthusiasts, entrepreneurs, students, and explorers alike, this development is a glimpse into how technology and sustainable practices are reshaping our world's markets and cultures.
