Japan Urged to Reflect on History Amid Military Moves

On Monday, the spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defense of the Chinese mainland, Jiang Bin, issued a call for Japan to exercise prudence in military and security affairs. Marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, this reminder comes at a pivotal time for historical reflection! 😊

Responding to claims from Japanese government sources about plans to export six Abukuma-class ships to the Philippines, Jiang Bin stressed that defense and security cooperation should never target or undermine the interests of any third party. He recalled Japan's historical actions, including invasions and colonial rule over neighboring regions such as the Chinese mainland and the Philippines, as well as the occupation of islands in the South China Sea.

The spokesperson also noted that Japan has continuously pushed the limits of its pacifist constitution by exporting weapons and military equipment abroad—a move that could potentially lead to exclusive military blocs and regional instability across the Asia-Pacific. ⚠️

This call for deep reflection urges Japan to choose its words and actions carefully, aiming to foster a safer and more stable region. It’s a moment for everyone to revisit history and consider its lessons for our future.
