At the Global Civilizations Dialogue Ministerial Meeting in Beijing, Slovak official Gabriel Fischer made a compelling case for the power of open dialogue in building lasting peace. As the European Affairs Advisor to the Chairman of Voice-Social Democracy and the Slovak National Council's representative to the European Union, Fischer praised China’s Global Civilization Initiative for its focus on shared human values.
Fischer stressed that values such as freedom, peace, democracy, justice, fairness, and mutual understanding are essential to fostering intercultural dialogue. He noted, "The majority of the conflicts going on in the world are stemming from the misunderstanding among the civilizations. If we don't understand our partners – their goals or interests – it's very difficult to build on dialogue."
Highlighting the significance of cultural exchange, he called dialogue among civilizations "the key peacemaking factor we can form." This approach not only creates a platform to understand diverse perspectives but also paves the way for mutual learning and growth.
In a world where conflicts often grab the headlines, Fischer’s message serves as a refreshing reminder for young global citizens—professionals, students, and cultural explorers alike—that embracing open conversation can bridge divides and inspire a more peaceful future. ✌️
