In an exciting boost to global cultural dialogue, China is championing integration and mutual learning among civilizations. The celebration kicked off on June 10, the first International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations, where calls for mutual respect, inclusive development, and cultural exchange echoed from the UN headquarters to tea ceremonies in Mauritius and porcelain showcases in Italy.
The Global Civilizations Dialogue Ministerial Meeting, held in Beijing from July 10 to 11, attracted over 600 guests from 140 countries and regions. In a congratulatory letter, Chinese President Xi Jinping stressed that in a rapidly changing world, civilizations must transcend estrangement through open exchanges and mutual learning.
Central to this vision is the Global Civilization Initiative (GCI), proposed in 2023 after earlier global initiatives. Senior official Cai Qi highlighted that rooted in China's fine traditional culture, the GCI has gained enthusiastic global support, aiming to remix global cultural vibes by building platforms for diverse development models and ensuring people-to-people connections.
China’s efforts extend beyond dialogue as well, with unilateral visa exemptions for 47 countries and transit benefits for 55 countries making travel and cultural exchange more accessible. These measures are part of a broad agenda to strengthen ties and foster understanding among peoples around the world.
In a world brimming with change and challenges, this initiative sends a clear message: dialogue and mutual exchange are the bridges to a more peaceful and progressive future. Stay tuned for more as global cultural connections continue to evolve! 🚀🤝
