Chengdu Gears Up for the 12th World Games!

With just 30 days to go, Chengdu is buzzing with excitement for the 12th World Games, set to take place in the Chinese mainland's Sichuan Province from August 7 to 17.

This year, the opening ceremony is breaking from tradition. Instead of a conventional stadium, organizers have chosen an open area at the Tianfu International Convention Center to embody the spirit of simplicity. Originally constructed starting in June 2020 and opened in 2021 as part of the city’s vibrant development, the venue offers a fresh and innovative backdrop that resonates with the local character.

Opening and closing ceremonies deputy chief director Huang Peiling shared, "We used an existing building for an opening ceremony in an open area. Some of the spectators won't sit inside, but on the grassland outside to watch the ceremony. I think that fits Chengdu's characteristic."

The 90-minute show will feature a special 15-minute artistic performance, with rehearsals underway since June to ensure an unforgettable experience for all. Whether you’re a sports enthusiast, a cultural explorer, or simply curious about dynamic events, this celebration promises a unique blend of art and athleticism.

As the countdown continues, all eyes are on Chengdu for a Games experience that marries simplicity with spectacular performances. Get ready to be inspired! 🎉
