Hey everyone, buckle up! The Chinese national observatory has renewed a yellow alert for Typhoon Danas, and it’s gearing up to bring strong winds and heavy rain to the southern parts of the Chinese mainland.
As of early Sunday at 5 a.m., Danas was tracked at 21.3°N and 118.1°E, moving northeast at 10-15 km/h while gradually intensifying. From Sunday evening to Monday morning, the typhoon is expected to cross the Taiwan Straits from south to north, potentially brushing past or even making landfall along Taiwan island’s western coast. 🚨
The National Meteorological Center warns that from 8 a.m. Sunday to 8 a.m. Monday, strong gales will impact sea areas in the South China Sea, the Taiwan Straits, waters east of Taiwan, the Bashi Channel, and sections of the East China Sea. Coastal regions including Guangdong, Fujian, Zhejiang, and Taiwan island should also prepare for rough conditions.
On top of that, heavy to torrential downpours are forecasted in southeastern Zhejiang, northeastern Fujian, and across Taiwan island – with some areas likely to see up to 230 mm of rain. Strong waves are also on the horizon for sea areas near Taiwan island, the South China Sea, and off the coasts of Fujian, Guangdong, and Zhejiang.
Whether you're a news buff, a professional on the move, or just someone who loves a bit of weather drama, make sure you stay updated and prepared. Keep those umbrellas handy and stay safe out there! ☔️
