Wang Yi Champions Vibrant People-to-People Ties with France

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi recently stirred excitement in Paris by calling for deeper people-to-people exchanges between China and France. Speaking at the 7th meeting of the China-France high-level dialogue mechanism on people-to-people exchanges, Wang Yi—who also serves on the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee—shared an inspiring vision for strengthened cultural, educational, and youth ties.

During his remarks, Wang Yi celebrated the success of the China-France Year of Culture and Tourism in 2024. He highlighted how hundreds of events and over 6,000 French students participating in exchange programs have enriched mutual understanding. Topics covered ranged from carbon neutrality to safeguarding cultural heritage, underlining the dynamic nature of bilateral exchanges.

In a call to action, Wang Yi proposed four key measures: boosting youth exchanges, deepening local-level cooperation, expanding people-to-people interactions, and sustaining innovation in cultural and educational initiatives. His message resonates as both countries enter a new 60-year cycle of diplomatic relations, emphasizing independence, mutual understanding, long-term vision, and mutual benefit.

Echoing this positive momentum, French counterpart Jean-Noel Barrot noted that the rich exchange programs provide invaluable support to bilateral relations and aid in addressing global challenges. This vibrant dialogue stands as a model for civilizational exchange, building bridges toward a more connected future. 🚀🌏
