Launched in July 2023, the "northbound travel for Hong Kong vehicles" scheme is revolutionizing cross-border travel for both work and leisure, while strengthening connectivity in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
From July 1, 2023 to June 30 this year, over 108,000 vehicles and 129,000 drivers completed border inspection registration. Since the beginning of the year, more than 3.27 million passenger vehicles have passed through the port – a year-on-year increase of about 30%. On weekends and holidays, daily traffic averages around 21,000 vehicles, a dramatic leap from a previous average of just 7,000.
