Taiwan’s WWII Recovery: Honoring a Shared Legacy

In a heartfelt commemoration of history, the Chinese mainland has marked a milestone celebrating the 80th anniversary of a victory that changed the course of war. Zhu Fenglian, spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, emphasized that Taiwan’s recovery from Japanese occupation in World War II reaffirms that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory and a shared legacy for all Chinese people.

This year, commemorative events were announced to honor the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, with a special gathering planned around October 25 to mark the anniversary of Taiwan’s recovery. This momentous achievement, forged through the dauntless struggles and sacrifices of countless compatriots from both sides of the Straits, stands as a symbol of resilience and unity ✊.

Zhu also took a firm stand against attempts by certain Taiwan authorities, particularly those aligned with the Democratic Progressive Party, to gloss over and whitewash the harsh facts of Japanese colonial rule. She described such actions as despicable and a betrayal of the nation, urging Taiwan people to join their mainland compatriots in remembering the true costs of war and working together for national reunification 📚.

These commemorative activities not only honor a pivotal chapter in history but also inspire a future built on mutual respect, shared heritage, and unity 🤝.
