In a bold move, the Chinese mainland's cyberspace watchdog has tackled over 3,500 non-compliant AI products since April. These include mini-programs, web applications, and AI agents that failed to meet established rules, sparking concerns over digital safety ⚡️.
The campaign, launched amid rising issues like deepfake face-swapping and voice cloning, aimed to prevent misleading content and protect public interests. More than 960,000 items with illegal or harmful content were removed, and over 3,700 accounts were shut down to quickly curb potential abuse.
Local cyberspace authorities were instructed to intensify efforts against these non-compliant AI products by cutting off their marketing and traffic channels. Major platforms have also been urged to bolster technical safeguards and accelerate the implementation of clear AI-generated content labeling.
Looking ahead, the next phase will focus on curbing AI-generated rumors and vulgar online content. A robust technical monitoring system and standardized sanction protocols are set to support a healthier online environment and steer AI development in a positive direction.
