At the eastern foot of Helan Mountain, the wine grape fields are bursting with innovation! In early summer, smart drip irrigation systems, controlled via smartphone apps, are transforming traditional vineyards into high-tech hubs. Sensors monitor soil temperature, humidity, weather, and irrigation flow, allowing for precise water and fertilizer management. This modern approach reduces water usage from 700-800 cubic meters per mu to just 220-260 cubic meters, conserving resources while enhancing vine growth and grape quality.
Liu Huibin, deputy manager at GreatWall Terroir's grape planting base, explained that the integrated system not only improves efficiency but also saves labor. Previously, flood-irrigating 300 mu required at least five workers; now, only five workers manage over 7,000 mu with smart technologies. The region, known as a golden zone for grape cultivation due to its abundant sunshine, well-aerated soil, and significant day-night temperature differences, continues to set high standards in wine production.
Local winemakers are also embracing digital transformation. Huangkou Winery uses a digital fermentation control system that tracks vital indicators like temperature, density, dissolved oxygen, and liquid level in real time. Lab technician Li Dan noted that this mobile app ensures stable wine quality by eliminating delays caused by manual checks. Meanwhile, IoT technology, drones, and remote sensing are used for real-time vineyard monitoring and eco-friendly pest control.
Blockchain technology enhances transparency by enabling consumers to scan QR codes and access detailed production information. With over 20 technological patents and R&D breakthroughs in collaboration with local universities, innovations such as enhanced fermentation tanks and oxygen-permeable polymer barrels are boosting production efficiency and product quality.
In January, the wine industry technology collaborative innovation center was established at the eastern foot of Helan Mountain. As the first open and shared platform in the Chinese mainland's wine industry, it aims to integrate resources across the entire production chain. This move not only reinforces the digital transformation of traditional winemaking but also boosts the global competitiveness of Ningxia's premium wines. The blend of tradition and technology is sparking a dynamic new era for the industry—one that inspires and sets trends for a digitally savvy generation! 🍷🚀
