China Rejects Unilateralism at Shangri-La Dialogue 22

At the 22nd Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore, China’s delegation stood firm in rejecting practices of unilateralism and bullying. During a special session titled "Cooperative Maritime Security in the Asia-Pacific," Hu Gangfeng, vice president of the National Defense University of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army, emphasized China’s commitment to multilateral dialogue and equal exchanges.

Hu explained that China supports three global initiatives centered on development, security, and civilization. He outlined a vision for a maritime community in the Asia-Pacific that is peaceful, friendly, and cooperative—a message that resonates with a generation eager for global harmony. 🌏✌️

Nuriyeni Kartika Bintarsari from Jenderal Soedirman University remarked, "We need China to take a more active role in the discussion, as it can help alleviate the conflict that affects the global community," highlighting the growing demand for inclusive and sincere multilateral engagement.

China’s proactive approach is further demonstrated by its Global Security Initiative launched in 2022. With backing from 119 countries and various international organizations, the initiative has already led to 123 bilateral and multilateral cooperation documents. A recent white paper on China’s national security reiterates the importance of shared security and equal respect for the legitimate security concerns of every nation.

This dialogue shines a light on China’s renewed pledge to foster sincere dialogue, consultation, and cooperation—an invitation for the global community to work together towards a safer and more harmonious future. 🚀
