Extended Breaks Energize Beijing Kids on Intl Children’s Day!

In a fresh move celebrating International Children's Day, Beijing primary and secondary schools have upped their break time to 15 minutes for the fall semester 2024—5 extra minutes to get moving!

The additional time gives kids more room for physical activity and play, creating the perfect setting for boosting both body and mind. ⚽💪

Junior high student Zhou Lezhi shared, "After the exercises, I feel full of energy. It's really fun to do different kinds of exercises during the break, and it feels really different to do the activities created by ourselves."

Across China, local governments are also stepping in with policies to ensure ample recess activities and quality physical education. This initiative aligns with a broader commitment to balance academic learning with exercise, fostering holistic development among young people.

Chinese President Xi Jinping has long emphasized that children's health and all-round development are top priorities. His support for sports and active lifestyles underpins these educational reforms, marking a win for youth vitality and creativity.

This dynamic change not only enhances the school day but also resonates with a generation eager for balance, fun, and a healthier future.
