In a vibrant meeting in Xiamen, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Papua New Guinea's Minister for Foreign Affairs Justin Tkatchenko reinforced the longstanding friendship between their nations with exciting new plans for practical cooperation.

Celebrating PNG's 50th independence anniversary, Wang Yi highlighted the deep bonds built over decades, describing the relationship as a treasured asset formed across mountains and seas. With next year set to mark 50 years of diplomatic ties, both sides are looking back on past successes to pave the way for an even brighter future.

Emphasizing the importance of building on this legacy, the two leaders called for the early launch of negotiations on a bilateral free trade agreement and for the full implementation of the consensus reached by their respective leaders. The recent Third China-Pacific Island Countries Foreign Ministers' Meeting also saw fresh agreement on creating a community with a shared future among China and Pacific Island countries.

Recognizing PNG's unique role in the South Pacific and its position as a gateway to Asia, China is ready to collaborate with PNG and other island nations to spur regional peace, development, and innovation. This dynamic exchange proves that when leaders come together with a common vision, the future is indeed full of possibilities. 🤝
