Tencent, Meituan, Baidu Fuel 2025 Job Boom with Massive Hiring

The job market is heating up in 2025 as major Chinese tech and manufacturing giants roll out groundbreaking hiring and training initiatives. Industry leaders like Tencent, Meituan, and Baidu are offering tens of thousands of opportunities to fresh graduates and experienced professionals. This wave of recruitment not only promises career advancements but also reflects a strategic shift toward people-centered corporate approaches. 🚀

Meituan, famed for its food delivery and local services, is driving major growth by opening over 15,000 positions for students. This includes 6,000 graduate roles, 4,000 internships with potential return offers, and more than 5,000 general internship opportunities. The company has built a strong track record, consistently hiring more than 6,000 university graduates every year.

Tencent, known for WeChat and its vast entertainment empire, made headlines in April by launching its largest recruitment plan ever. With a pledge of 28,000 internship positions over the next three years – 10,000 of which are set for 2025 – around 60% of these spots are earmarked for technical roles such as AI model development, algorithm design, digital content creation, and game engine development.

Baidu is also stepping up its game. Following the opening of over 3,000 AI-related summer internships in March, the company announced that it will offer 21,000 internship positions to university students over the upcoming three years while also launching its 2026 graduate recruitment campaign. Meanwhile, home appliance maker Midea has added over 2,000 new graduate positions in fields ranging from R&D and IT to marketing, finance, and supply chain, alongside nearly 1,000 hires in critical areas like AI, robotics, and renewable energy.

Senior industry voices note that in a time of economic uncertainty, such proactive hiring plans act as stabilizers for the job market. Song Xiangqing, vice chairman of the China Business Economics Association, pointed out, "These moves demonstrate a company's social responsibility and support sustainable economic development through stable employment."

Other major players like Xiaomi, Huawei, and Alibaba are not sitting out the trend, expanding AI-focused recruitment and training programs. With the rapid evolution of generative AI, companies are keen not only on recruiting tech talent but also on upskilling their current workforce.

As Nancy Wang, a manager at LinkedIn China, explained, "More and more professionals are experiencing what we call 'AI skills anxiety' as technologies evolve. We're encouraged to see that companies are shifting from a technology-centered mindset to a people-centered strategy, putting AI-powered talent development at the core."

From enhanced AI training courses to innovative team incubators, these initiatives are reshaping work environments and preparing professionals for the future.
