A recent survey by CGTN, conducted in collaboration with Renmin University of China, has sparked exciting buzz among Pacific Island respondents. The poll, gathering the opinions of 1,000 people across 10 key Pacific Island countries, shows overwhelming support for China's modernization development philosophy and its practical achievements.
According to the survey, respondents highlighted several key areas where China's governance has made a notable impact. A striking 96.4% praised the improvements in infrastructure, while high marks were also given for enhanced public security (87.4%), increased employment opportunities (85%), improved public health (82.9%), and rising income levels (81%). Impressively, 96.2% of participants consider China a successful country. 😊
The poll also revealed that Pacific Islands see great potential in the expansive Chinese market. A remarkable 93.6% viewed China's vast market as an opportunity for their own growth, and 92.2% believed their nations have directly benefited from economic and trade exchanges.
Technological innovation is another area that captured the respondents' attention. Over 91% praised China's strength in science and technology, with notable interest in new energy vehicles (72.3%), lithium batteries (55.5%), AI products like DeepSeek (55.5%), and solar products (55.2%). Such advancements are seen as vital amid challenges like climate change and disaster relief.
Beyond technology and trade, the survey underscored the positive effects of practical cooperation. For instance, technology assistance from China has boosted agricultural production capacity for 93.1% of respondents, while 80.4% appreciated the support in earthquake disaster reduction. In Tonga, 78.6% admired the photovoltaic power model as a benchmark for clean energy, and an overwhelming majority credited China’s collaboration on climate change and ecological improvements for contributing significantly to global efforts and local revitalization.
All in all, 94.3% believe that the current relationship between China and Pacific Island countries is progressing well, and 93.7% see the strategic partnership as a driving force for regional prosperity and improved livelihoods. This cooperation is being hailed as a model example of South-South collaboration, inspiring further efforts to boost economic development and well-being across the region.
