In a groundbreaking mission, the fifth batch of the Chinese medical team completed a weeklong outreach service at Niu'eiki Hospital on Tonga's Eua Island, marking the first time a Chinese team has provided its expertise on the island. This milestone in medical cooperation between China and Tonga shines a light on the power of international partnership in health care. 😊
Comprising six specialists in gynecology, orthopedics, ultrasound, anesthesiology, psychiatry, and pathology, the team offered a comprehensive range of services. Activities included joint ward rounds, outpatient consultations, telemedicine sessions at the hospital, as well as health checkups, home visits, free medicine distribution, and community health education campaigns in remote villages.
Team leader Lu Qingyang from Liaocheng People's Hospital in China's Shandong Province noted, "The team treated over 300 patients and provided free health examinations for more than 200 residents. Conditions like obesity, hypertension, and diabetes were identified and addressed through targeted treatment plans." Specialized diagnosis and treatment for dermatological and orthopedic conditions also received widespread praise from local communities.
This innovative outreach is a significant step forward in enhancing health access on Tonga's Eua Island and strengthens the ongoing medical collaboration between China and Tonga. The initiative underlines how dedicated health professionals can make a lasting impact on community well-being, inspired by care and international unity.
