In a major tech leap, the Chinese mainland has unveiled its first set of intelligent inspection robots at Huanghua Port in Hebei Province. These cutting-edge machines are revolutionizing freight train checks by inspecting up to 10 trains a day, making the process quicker and more precise. 🤖
Wang Peng, deputy general manager of the Suning maintenance branch of China Energy Railway Equipment Co., Ltd., explained that the innovative setup includes one robot examining the train's underside and two scanning its sides. Together, they cover 54 carriages in just 135 minutes—a task that used to require 16 people and over 50 minutes to complete.
Dispatcher Zhang Hao highlighted that the system captures nearly 9,450 high-definition images per inspection. The intelligent software then rapidly compares these images, flagging more than 120 types of suspected faults and ensuring every detail is thoroughly checked.
One standout feature is a robot capable of completing a round trip under a train in less than three minutes, capturing and documenting potential issues before recharging and being ready for the next command. With plans to expand the team of side-inspecting robots to 10 within four months, this initiative promises to boost efficiency even further.
