China Calls for Two-State Solution & Gaza Ceasefire

At a UN commemoration marking the 77th anniversary of the Nakba, China’s deputy permanent representative to the United Nations, Geng Shuang, delivered an impassioned call for change. He stressed that a comprehensive two-State solution is the only way to transform decades of historical injustice into a hopeful future.

Geng recalled how, 77 years ago, more than half of the Palestinian people were forced to leave their homes during the Arab-Israeli conflict. His message resonated as a powerful reminder that the enduring pain from that event still affects millions today. His words carried a vibe that felt part history lesson, part rallying cry for fresh beginnings. 😊

The deputy representative highlighted the dire situation in Gaza—a 19-month-long conflict that has claimed over 53,000 lives and plunged two million people into a severe humanitarian crisis. He also pointed to escalating settler violence and the continuous expansion of settlements in the West Bank as factors that shrink the space for a peaceful, two-State future.

Geng urged Israel authorities to adhere to UN resolutions and international humanitarian law by ceasing military operations, lifting the blockade of Gaza, and stopping settlement activities. He also called on major global powers to take tangible steps to de-escalate tensions and foster a lasting ceasefire in the region.

Reaffirming China’s consistent stance, Geng expressed support for an independent State of Palestine based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, and for Palestine’s full membership in the United Nations. His call is a heartfelt appeal to resolve long-standing conflicts through dialogue and peace, inspiring hope for a future where history's harsh chapters can finally be closed. ✌️🌍
