Zhang Haiqin Shines: Record-Breaking Performance at Asian Weightlifting Champs

Jiangshan in east China's Zhejiang Province set the stage for a spectacular display of strength and skill at the Asian Weightlifting Championships. In the women's 55kg category, rising star Zhang Haiqin (born in 2005) wowed the crowd by completing all six attempts, clinching three gold medals and breaking all three world junior records. With a precise 99kg lift in the snatch and an impressive 126kg in the clean and jerk, she totaled an outstanding 225kg. 💪

The action was just as thrilling in the men's 61kg division. China's Wang Hao kicked off the contest with a 142kg snatch that put him in an early lead. However, drama unfolded when DPRK's Pak Myong Jin surged ahead in the clean and jerk, powering through with a 170kg lift to win both the clean and jerk and the overall title by a razor-thin margin, while China's Wang Min secured three bronze medals.

In the men's 67kg class, China's Zheng Xinhao started strong with a 147kg snatch, but his campaign took an unexpected twist in the clean and jerk as he managed only a 170kg lift, earning him the bronze. Seizing the moment, Vietnam's Tran Minh Tri clinched the overall gold with a combined 318kg, edging Zheng by just one kilogram. This championship showcased incredible talent and left fans inspired by the fierce competition and record-smashing performances.
