China Unveils 28-Player Roster for Women’s Asia Cup Quest

Exciting news for basketball fans! The Chinese Basketball Association just announced a 28-player roster to gear up for the FIBA Women's Asia Cup later this year. This dynamic squad blends seasoned stars with emerging talents, ready to light up the court.

Standout center Li Yueru, who has showcased her skills in the Turkish league, joins an impressive list that includes four key players from Dongguan – Huang Sijing, Yang Liwei, Yang Shuyu, and Chen Mingling – and four top contenders from Sichuan – Han Xu, Li Meng, Wang Siyu, and Jia Saiqi. Other notable names like Pan Zhenqi, Li Yuan, Zhang Ru, and rising prospect Zhang Ziyu also made the cut.

Head coach Gong Luming emphasized, "Any excellent player is wanted for the national team training list, and hopefully through training, we can select the best players to participate in major competitions." With the ultimate aim of clinching the Asia Cup title and eyeing the 2028 Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles, the team’s ambitions are sky high.

The training schedule is as action-packed as a highlight reel: sessions in Kunming from April 20 to May 18, followed by intensive training in Beijing from May 19 to June 10. Six warmup games are set between early June and early July, with the squad finally converging in Shenzhen on July 10 for their last preparations before the tournament kicks off on July 13.
