Sports can be a passport to new worlds! Two international students—from Malaysia and Vietnam—are sharing their passion for badminton while studying in China, proving that a shuttlecock can unite cultures.
Kho Yap Hong, a Malaysian student at Beijing Sport University, grew up fascinated with China. Frequent visits during childhood and powerful stories from his badminton coach from central China's Hunan Province turned his dream into reality. Once part of Malaysia's junior national badminton team, Kho found extra motivation from admired Chinese players and world champions among his professors.
Nguyen Thi Thuy Van, a Vietnamese student at Beijing Jiaotong University, also shares her love for the sport. Alongside playing badminton with her brother, she enjoys watching Chinese historical dramas, a fun and effective way to boost her language skills. For both, the court is more than just a game—it's where culture and friendship collide. 😊
During a roundtable talk with CGTN Sports Scene's Shen Xiang, they highlighted how sports can bridge divides and create lasting bonds. Their journeys remind us that when passion meets opportunity, borders blur and dreams take flight.
