China to Host World’s First Humanoid Robot Half Marathon

Tech meets running in a race like no other! On April 13, south Beijing's "E-town" (Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area) will witness the world’s first half marathon featuring humanoid robots running alongside human athletes. This unique event covers a challenging 21.0975-kilometer course designed with separate lanes and protective barriers to ensure safety for all participants.

In anticipation of the race, six registered robot teams carried out their first on-site road tests on March 28, representing about a quarter of the total participants. Along the route, seven dedicated aid stations will support the teams with battery replacements, safety equipment, and auxiliary tools—much like a thrilling Formula 1 pit stop. As Wang Guolin, deputy head of the robot competition group, explained, "The aid stations mainly support participating teams by providing battery replacements, safety equipment and auxiliary tools."

This event is set to be a game-changer, blending athletic spirit with cutting-edge technology. Whether you’re a tech enthusiast, a sports fan, or simply curious about innovations, this race promises to be an exciting display of futuristic competition. Get ready to cheer on both humans and robots as they sprint towards a groundbreaking future! 🤖🏃

Stay tuned for more updates on this extraordinary race that highlights the exciting intersection of sports and technology.
