Mainland Official & KMT Vice Chairman Reaffirm One-China Principle

In a significant meeting in Xuzhou, east China's Jiangsu Province, Chinese mainland official Song Tao met with Andrew Hsia, vice chairman of the Chinese Kuomintang (KMT). The discussion set a positive tone, emphasizing that compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait are part of one family—not enemies. 😊

Head of the Taiwan Work Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, Song Tao stressed that "all separatist provocations are doomed to fail" and warned that any acts of "Taiwan secession" would face punitive measures.

He added, "We will adhere to the one-China principle and the 1992 Consensus and work together with the KMT and other political parties, organizations and people from across Taiwan to firmly oppose 'Taiwan secession' and external interference, and deepen cross-Straits exchanges and cooperation."

Andrew Hsia echoed the sentiment by stating that both sides of the Taiwan Strait belong to one and the same China, noting that any differences can be resolved through dialogue. His remarks underscored the KMT's willingness to promote peaceful growth in cross-Straits relations based on a strong common political foundation.
