In a remarkable start to 2025, the Zhuhai port at the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge recorded over 7.5 million passenger trips in Q1—a record high with a 23% increase year on year. 🚀
The 55-kilometer bridge, linking Hong Kong SAR, Macao SAR, and the city of Zhuhai in Guangdong Province, also saw 1.56 million vehicle trips, up by 31% compared to last year.
Residents from Hong Kong and Macao played a major role, contributing more than 4.1 million passenger trips (54.6% of the total) and over 880,000 vehicle trips. Meanwhile, foreign visitors set a record with over 120,000 trips, including a surge of 122% in visa-free entries.
Since November 2023, the Chinese mainland has continuously optimized its visa-free transit policy, welcoming over 20.1 million eligible foreign visitors in 2024—a 113.5% year-on-year increase. This record-breaking performance highlights the growing connectivity and vibrant cultural exchange across the region. 🌏
