Wu Yanni Shatters 60m Hurdles Record at Nanjing 2025

In a thrilling showdown at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Nanjing, Wu Yanni from the Chinese mainland set a brand-new national record in the women's 60m hurdles with a time of 8.01 seconds—even though it wasn’t enough to secure a spot in the final. The performance had fans buzzing and proved that records are meant to be broken! ⚡️

The semifinals witnessed fierce battles: Devynne Charlton of the Bahamas clinched gold in a season-best 7.72 seconds, while Switzerland's Ditaji Kambundji edged in with silver just 0.01 seconds behind. Jamaica’s Ackera Nugent rounded out the podium with a time of 7.74 seconds.

The excitement wasn’t limited to individual events. The American men’s 4x400m relay team dominated the track with a spectacular finish of 3:03.13, leaving the competition nearly two seconds in the dust. In a parallel relay race, Hungary’s Attila Molnar and a determined Chinese relay team marked the event with national records, underscoring the high stakes of the championships.

The women’s 4x400m relay was equally intense as the USA team—featuring Quanera Hayes, Bailey Lear, Rosey Effiong, and Alexis Holmes—secured gold in 3:27.45, with Poland and Australia following closely.

Norwegian star Jakob Ingebrigtsen continued to impress by clinching victories in the men’s 1,500m (3:38.79) and 3,000m races, showcasing his dominance across distances.

Italy’s Mattia Furlani triumphed in the long jump with an 8.30-meter leap, while American Claire Bryant dazzled in her international debut by achieving a personal best of 6.96 meters in the women’s long jump. Australian Nicola Olyslagers defended her high jump title with a clearance of 1.97 meters, and New Zealand’s Tom Walsh secured his third shot put title with a season-best throw of 21.65 meters. In the heptathlon, Norwegian Sander Skotheim claimed victory with 6,475 points, following a stellar European indoor title performance.
