Following provisional regulations approved on December 30, 2024, designated medical institutions in the pilot zone can now import limited quantities of specialized products, including full-nutrition medical support for rare diseases and essential dietary supplements. These special policies fast-track the use of internationally licensed pharmaceuticals and devices not yet available domestically, offering patients access to cutting-edge treatments.
Further fueling this momentum, China announced on November 29, 2024, plans to permit the establishment of wholly foreign-owned hospitals in major cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen, as well as in Hainan.
