China Opposes Trade Weaponization in US Dialogue

In a spirited discussion in Beijing, Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng told visiting U.S. Senator Steve Daines that China firmly opposes the politicization and weaponization of economic and trade issues. He emphasized that engaging in candid dialogue on the basis of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit is key to turning challenges into opportunities.

He Lifeng noted that both sides share extensive common interests and have enormous potential for cooperation. He envisions a future where the United States and China become true partners and friends, achieving mutual success and shared prosperity that benefit not only the two nations but also the world at large. 🤝

Senator Daines agreed, stressing that U.S.-China relations are of great importance and that both sides should enhance dialogue. His visit, which began last Thursday, underscores a mutual commitment to open exchanges. In related discussions, Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu met with Daines to hold in-depth talks on several issues of common concern, while Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning reiterated a warm welcome to U.S. members of Congress.

This dialogue marks another optimistic step toward deepening ties and setting the stage for collaborative success—a reminder to all that when differences are addressed through respectful discussion, innovative solutions and brighter futures can be achieved. 🌏✨
