The Chinese mainland's military is gearing up to hit its ambitious centenary targets set for 2027, according to Wu Qian, a spokesperson for the People's Liberation Army (PLA) and the People's Armed Police Force.

During the annual national legislative session on Sunday, Wu emphasized that achieving these goals and transforming into a world-class armed force are "strategic imperatives" in China's journey to becoming a modern nation.

"We must dedicate our efforts to ensuring that we achieve our goals with strong performance and on schedule," Wu stated with determination.

Deputies from the armed forces have committed to ramping up troop training, enhancing combat readiness, and accelerating the modernization of military training programs. This includes strengthening new-domain forces with cutting-edge combat capabilities and boosting military preparedness across various areas.
