Spring Festival Sparks Record Consumption Boom, CPPCC Spokesperson Celebrates Growth 🎉

Liu Jieyi, spokesperson for the third session of the 14th Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, shared exciting news on Monday about China’s booming consumption market during the Spring Festival.

This year marks the first Spring Festival since its inclusion on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, and Liu highlighted some impressive milestones. The box office revenue and the number of moviegoers reached record highs, showcasing the perfect blend of traditional culture and high-tech advancements.

Thanks to the upgraded visa-free policy, inbound arrivals during this year's Spring Festival saw a staggering 150 percent year-on-year increase, Liu pointed out. This surge not only reflects the growing popularity of the festival but also underscores the appeal of Chinese culture to visitors from around the world.

With the Spring Festival’s successful inscription, China now proudly boasts 44 cultural elements or practices on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list—the most of any country or region worldwide. This achievement demonstrates the great charm and enduring legacy of China’s outstanding traditional culture.

Last year, CPPCC members embarked on thematic investigations across Shandong, Shanxi, Henan, and other regions. They engaged with front-line cultural and museum workers, learning about the progress of important projects, such as tracing the origins of Chinese civilization, and contributed valuable suggestions.

To foster a correct understanding of Chinese history, the CPPCC also published \"100 Facts on History and Culture of Community for the Chinese Nation\". This book delves into the extensive exchanges and integration among China’s various ethnic groups through 100 insightful topics.

Looking ahead, the CPPCC remains committed to promoting excellent traditional Chinese culture, strengthening the nation’s spiritual foundation, and supporting the cultural groundwork for the nation's strength and rejuvenation.
