John Higgins Sweeps Pang Junxu to Reach WST World Open Semifinals

🔥 Four-time world champion John Higgins of Scotland made a stunning performance at the World Snooker Tour (WST) World Open quarterfinals in Shangrao, east China's Jiangxi Province, sweeping past home favorite Pang Junxu with a decisive 5-0 victory. 🎱

The last face-off between Higgins and Pang was during the Welsh Open qualifiers in 2022, where Higgins emerged victorious 4-1. This time, Higgins showcased his stellar form by dominating the match with impressive breaks of 125, 87, 96, and 81, leaving Pang with no chance to mount a comeback.

Next up for Higgins is a semifinal clash against Englishman Zak Surety, who secured his spot by defeating compatriot Tom Fard 5-3 on the same day.

In another thrilling quarterfinal match, Joe O'Connor continued his remarkable run by defeating Shaun Murphy 5-1. O'Connor kicked off with blazing breaks of 135 and 100, eventually sealing the victory with a powerful 132 break in the fourth frame. 💪

O'Connor expressed his confidence, saying, \"I played really well and didn't give Shaun many chances. When the long pots are going in you have to punish the top players, that's what I did today and I'm proud of it. It's cementing confidence I have had for many years. This week it has all come together and hopefully I can win the trophy. If I play like that it will take a lot to stop me. I have been consistent for a while now and when my game clicks I feel I can beat anyone.\"

He will face another English contender, Ali Carter, who made a dramatic comeback to edge out Barry Hawkins 5-4. Carter has already claimed two of his six ranking titles in China, making the upcoming semifinal even more exciting.
