Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with New Zealand's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Winston Peters in Beijing on Wednesday. 🤝
Wang emphasized the importance of mutual respect, stating that all countries, regardless of size or strength, are equal and have the right to choose their own development path.
Amidst a changing and chaotic international landscape, Wang highlighted the need for China and New Zealand to enhance multilateral coordination. 🌐
\"China's high-level opening-up and its supersize market will continue to offer greater opportunities for cooperation with New Zealand,\" Wang said.
He also expressed hopes that New Zealand would continue to provide a welcoming environment for Chinese students and overseas Chinese. 🎓🌍
\"The Asia-Pacific region is a shared home for China and New Zealand,\" Wang added, respecting the traditional relations between New Zealand and Pacific island countries.
Winston Peters welcomed the progress made since the establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership between the two nations.
\"New Zealand remains committed to the one-China policy and looks forward to deepening cooperation in areas such as economics, trade, agriculture, defense, and more,\" Peters stated.
The two leaders agreed to maintain high-level exchanges and discuss China's accession to the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) and the Digital Economy Partnership Agreement (DEPA).
