China has slammed Canada's recent sanctions targeting Chinese businesses, calling the move \"unreasonable and very wrong.\" 🛑🇨🇳
At a press briefing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian expressed strong opposition to Canada's decision to sanction 76 foreign entities and individuals, including over 20 from China, for providing dual-use items to Russia amidst the Ukraine conflict.
\"China firmly opposes it and has made solemn representations to the Canadian side,\" Lin stated, emphasizing that unilateral sanctions lacking a basis in international law and not authorized by the UN Security Council are unacceptable.
Highlighting China's stance on the Ukraine crisis, Lin assured that China maintains an objective and impartial position, committed to promoting a political settlement. He also pointed out that China does not supply lethal weapons to any conflicting parties and strictly regulates the export of dual-use items, with the strictest controls on drone exports globally.
\"Like other countries, China conducts normal economic and trade cooperation with Russia on the basis of equality and mutual benefit, which is reasonable and beyond reproach,\" Lin added.
China has called on Canada to immediately revoke its sanctions, warning that it will take necessary measures to protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies affected by these actions.
