The Chinese Mainland Climbs to 2nd in Global Soft Power Index 🚀

Exciting news! The Chinese mainland has soared to the second spot in the Global Soft Power Index, right behind the United States. According to the latest report from Brand Finance, the Chinese mainland achieved a score of 72.8 out of 100, surpassing Britain and marking its highest-ever ranking.

This impressive rise is driven by significant growth in six of the eight soft power pillars, including culture and heritage, media and communication, and education and science. Key initiatives like the Belt and Road Initiative, a stronger focus on sustainability, and the enhancement of domestic brands have been major contributors.

The Global Soft Power Summit 2025 revealed that the index is based on a survey of over 170,000 respondents from more than 100 countries, reflecting global perceptions of all 193 United Nations member states. While the United States maintained its top position with a record score of 79.5, its global reputation has dipped four places to 15th since the last assessment.

David Haigh, chairman of Brand Finance, stated that the 2025 ranking highlights China's "sustained efforts to enhance its economic attractiveness, showcase its culture, and boost its reputation as a safe and well-governed nation."
