China and Turkey Pledge Stronger Cooperation at G20 Meeting 🤝

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met on the sidelines of the G20 Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Johannesburg, pledging to expand bilateral cooperation. 🌏

Highlighting that both China and Türkiye are part of the Global South and are rapidly industrializing, Wang emphasized the significant potential for practical collaboration between the two nations.

China places great importance on its relationship with Türkiye, positioning bilateral ties at a crucial spot in its Middle East diplomacy. Wang expressed China’s willingness to enhance communication, deepen development strategies, and extend cooperation areas to benefit both countries and the region.

Wang also thanked Türkiye for assisting in the recent evacuation of Chinese citizens from Syria and highlighted their mutual commitment to combating terrorism. 🤝 Both nations aim to strengthen counter-terrorism efforts to ensure regional and global peace.

On his part, Fidan noted the close exchanges between Türkiye and China across various levels and fields in recent years. He mentioned successful intergovernmental cooperation committee meetings, alignment of the Middle Corridor and the Belt and Road Initiative, and China’s role as Türkiye’s second-largest trading partner.

Fidan expressed Türkiye’s intent to expand trade and investment with China, explore emerging sectors like renewable energy, information technology, and artificial intelligence, and continue their collaboration on security and law enforcement at multiple levels.

The two foreign ministers also discussed regional hotspots, with Türkiye appreciating China's stance on the Ukraine crisis and the Palestinian issue. Türkiye supports the six-point consensus proposed by China and Brazil, advocates for the two-state solution, and welcomes China's efforts to strengthen regional ties.
