The Chinese Foreign Ministry has voiced strong objections to recent changes made by the U.S. State Department on its \"U.S.-China Relations\" webpage and fact sheets.
Spokesperson Guo Jiakun stated that these alterations misrepresent the facts, attack China's foreign policy, and promote the narrative of a China-U.S. strategic competition. The updated U.S. materials now emphasize the trade deficit, alleged unfair competition practices by China, and concerns of U.S. firms operating within China.
Guo emphasized that China's policy towards the U.S. remains consistent and clear, grounded in the three principles outlined by President Xi Jinping: mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation. \"We are equally determined to defend our sovereignty, security, and development interests,\" Guo affirmed.
He also urged the U.S. to adhere to the mutual understandings reached by the two presidents during their recent phone call. \"Stop misleading the U.S. people and the international community, and stop smearing and putting pressure on China,\" he added.
Guo concluded by calling for an objective and rational approach to China-U.S. relations, advocating for the steady, sound, and sustainable development of their bilateral ties.
